Forum 21 is a voluntary group based in West Somerset dedicated to raising environmental issues and fighting climate change. It takes its name from the Agenda 21 movement formed to take the message of local sustainability through into the 21st century. Since its launch in 1998, Forum 21 has been responsible for a number of local initiatives, such as the now well-established Minehead farmers' market. Forum 21 is good at generating ideas, finding funding and seeding new projects. West Somerset Together is a Forum 21 initiative to bring together and support like-minded groups for exchange of ideas as well as instigation and execution of projects across West Somerset.

What are we currently doing?

Projects;– energy team, community woodland, steam coast trail, EV charging points (see expanded summaries under  'MORE...' above, ----> projects)

Community activities – we initiated West Somerset Together which is a network of environmental organisations and individuals who meet informally and work on campaigns – currently the focus is Build Back Better.
We have run sustainable communities workshops in several parishes and members are also involved with plastic free communities, West Somerset Community Land Trust, XR, sustainable transport and Somerset Climate Action Network.
Forum 21 has been involved in a range of activities in conjunction with  other local organisations.
These activities include:
Production of a Community Climate Change Strategy for West Somerset
Woodcombe Woods - Community Woodlands and Fuel Poverty Project - Sustainable forestry management and education as well as production of logs for those in fuel poverty
Development of The Steam Coast Trail  which is a multi- user path between Minehead and Williton
Surviving Winter project which offers grants to people in fuel poverty
Energy Advice which is about how to reduce your bills and manage your energy accounts and home improvements

Electric charge points for cars with plans to install several electric vehicle charge points all over West Somerset.

Forum 21 is making some small grants of up to 1,000 pounds available to local organisations that have plans for projects that meet our criteria. For more details download or view our application form and criteria here:
