What we do
Forum 21 is a voluntary group based in West Somerset dedicated to
raising environmental issues and fighting climate change. It takes its
name from the Agenda 21 movement formed to take the message of
local sustainability through into the 21st century.
Since its launch in 1998, Forum 21 has been responsible for a number
of local initiatives, such as the now well established Minehead farmers
market. More recently the group has been involved in a range of
activities in conjunction with West Somerset Council and other local
organisations. This has included the production of a Community Climate
Change strategy for West Somerset. For information about some
of our recent projects, download our leaflet:
Forum 21 Leaflet
Regular Forum 21 public meetings about issues of local and national
concern are held in the area, usually in Minehead.
Anyone who wants to get involved or to be kept informed of activities
can register under How to get involved. Forum 21
offers you the chance to make a difference for the environment.
Climate Action West
Climate Action West is a community interest company established by
Forum 21 supporters in order to advance particular projects where a more
formal legal entity was required. These include, for example, projects
aimed at
making Exmoor National Park carbon neutral and a series
of actions planned as a result of funding received by a
number
of local organisations under the Local Action for
Rural Communities
programme.
CAW will soon have its own website, where further details will be
available. Watch this space.
